BritBox picks up North American rights to upcoming ITV drama series The Tower

BritBox, the joint-venture SVoD service from UK broadcasters ITV and the BBC, has picked up North American rights to ITV’s upcoming crime drama series The Tower.

Based on Kate London’s debut novel Post Mortem, The Tower follows two detectives investigating the deaths of a veteran police officer and a teenage Muslim girl who have both fallen from Portland Tower in south London.

The three-part series is produced by Windhover Films and Mammoth Screen, and adapted by Homeland writer and exec producer Patrick Harbinson. Harbinson exec produces the series with Mammoth Screen’s founder and CEO Damien Timmer and Karen Thrussell. Paul Testar is producer, Sherie Myers is coproducer and Jim Loach is director.

The drama stars Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones), Tahirah Sharif (The Haunting of Bly Manor) and Jimmy Akingbola (Kate & Koji).

The Tower is distributed internationally by ITV Studios and will debut on BritBox North America on December 1. It premieres on ITV in the UK on November 8.
