Brazil’s Globo seeks finacial windfall after ordering local version of The Inheritance

Formata produced The Inheritance will air on streamer Globoplay

CONTENT AMERICAS: Brazilian media giant Globo is to make a local language adaptation of All3Media-distributed psychological reality format The Inheritance.

Produced by indie outfit Formata, it will air on the company’s streaming service, Globoplay.

Blending fiction and reality, the UK format sees contestants bid to inherit the fortune of a benefactor known as The Deceased.

The Brazilian version will be based on the original format created by Studio Lambert (Race Across the World), which featured actress Elizabeth Hurley and Robert Rinder, for Channel 4 in the UK.

The deal with Globo was announced by All3Media International, which distributes the format worldwide.

Tatiana Costa, head of content, Globoplay and pay TV at Globo said: “Reality shows are one of Globoplay’s key strengths, and we strongly believe in the potential of this format to create connection and engage Brazilian audiences in this competition.

“The local adaptation brings our specialised Brazilian perspective to the format. It is another investment aimed at bringing a major hit to our reality catalogue.”
