Currently airing on TV Globo, She’s The One (Garota do Momento) is set in the 1950s and follows a woman who believes she was abandoned by her mother as a child.

Raised by her paternal grandmother since she was four years old in Petrópolis, she later decides to travel to Rio de Janeiro when she comes across a photo of her missing mother in a magazine.

The series is written by Alessandra Poggi (A Trick of Fate) with artistic direction by Natalia Grimberg.

Poggi described the telenovela as a “fable of hope” that encourages reflections on how contemporary society could change for the better.

“Society has changed a lot since that time, but many issues are still, unfortunately, very current. We will bring the whole atmosphere of that time, but also make people think about how we could be in a different place if we had evolved in some aspects,” said Poggi.

On January 21, Globo will present its slate of telenovelas, series, documentaries and formats, with actress Sophie Charlotte (Rebirth) in attendance.

As well as Rebirth The Life We Lead, Total Dreamer and Hidden Truths, the slate includes Crazy About You, a telenovela about the friendship between two young women with complicated love lives, and competition format What A Wonderful Cuisine Class, featuring celebrities who don’t know how to cook. The showcase will also celebrate the 100th anniversary of Grupo Globo, which was founded in 1925 by Irineu Marinho and went on to become the largest media group in Latin America and one of the world’s largest media conglomerates.

On January 22, Manuel Belmar, director of digital products, finance, legal and infrastructure at Globo, will participate in a panel looking at the strategy of Globo’s streaming service Globoplay, where he will talk about opportunities for international partnerships.

“We have a varied portfolio that shows that Globo can be a strategic partner for different business models, according to the client’s needs. Content Americas is the first major event of the year, where we can strengthen relationships with our partners and foster new conversations,” said Angela Colla, head of international business and coproductions at Globo.

It marks Globo’s return to the Miami event, which kicks off on January 20 and runs until January 23 at the Hilton Miami Downtown.

It is focused on connecting the Lat Am, domestic US and international business to develop new creative partnerships and follows successful editions of the event in 2023 and 2024.
