The announcement comes as Bosch: Legacy, a spin-off from the original Bosch crime drama, gets ready to conclude with its third season, premiering on March 27.

Prime Video’s Bosch television franchise, which is based on the Harry Bosch novel series by Michael Connelly, ran for seven seasons from 2014 to 2021 and was followed by Bosch: Legacy in 2022. Welliver was an executive producer on both projects.

A third instalment in the franchise was commissioned in late 2023. That spin-off will follow Renée Ballard, a detective who was mentored by Harry Bosch.

Welliver is also set to star in a spin-off from the CBS procedural The Equalizer, in addition to the Fidel Castro feature drama Killing Castro. He also starred in the indie feature Ricky, which premiered at Sundance recently.

“As one iconic chapter closes with Bosch: Legacy, we’re incredibly excited to begin a new journey with Titus Welliver,” said Vernon Sanders, Amazon MGM Studios’ head of television.

“His portrayal of Harry Bosch has defined a generation of crime drama, bringing unparalleled depth and authenticity to the role. We’re thrilled to continue our creative collaboration and can’t wait to see what comes next.”

Welliver added that he was “excited to continue our collaboration to develop interesting and meaningful stories.”
