Boris Johnson to front Ukraine war doc from Soho Studios, Two Rivers for 5

Boris Johnson: Into the ‘Kill Zone’ follows the ex-UK premier to Zaporizhzhia

Paramount-owned UK broadcaster 5 has commissioned feature-length documentary working-titled Boris Johnson: Into the ‘Kill Zone’, featuring the former UK prime minister on a secret assignment behind the frontline of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Produced by Pantheon Media Group-backed Soho Studios and Two Rivers Media (The Last Musician of Auschwitz) in association with Daily Mail Originals, global distribution is being handled by Sphere Abacus.

The 1×90’ film sees Johnson embark on a 72-hour unprotected journey to the front line ‘kill zone’ near Zaporizhzhia, where drones, artillery and the realities of modern warfare quickly replace diplomacy and political rhetoric. Embedded with Ukrainian soldiers, he visits shattered villages, a makeshift bomb factory and shelters in a flat during a missile strike.

Guy Davies, consultant editor for commissioning at 5, said: “Boris takes us on a traumatic and revelatory journey in this documentary. It is clearly a cause that is close to his heart and we see him in a new light – no longer looking at the war from the statesman’s perspective, away from the frontline, but in the trenches and more able to speak freely.”

In related news, Paramount+ has commissioned Meet The Fishers (working title), a reality docusoap following one of Britain’s most viral families. Rising to fame on social media in 2022, Big John and his family captured the nation’s attention with his Chinese takeaway orders and the catchphrase “Bosh!”.

The 6×60’ series is being produced by Objective Entertainment and will be recorded and air this year on Paramount+ in the UK, US, Australia and Canada. Objective Entertainment, part of All3Media’s Objective Media Group, is the prodco behind reality hits including The Only Way Is Essex and Geordie Shore.
