Borde leaves France TV for Turner

Turner has appointed veteran France Télévisions executive Julien Borde to a newly created position overseeing its channels in France, Africa and Israel.

Borde is joining Turner as head of channels, kids and general entertainment after over a decade with the French public broadcaster.

The Paris-based exec will be in charge of all editorial activity for Turner’s kids and general entertainment brands in France, French-speaking territories, Africa and Israel.

Turner’s brands include Cartoon Network, Boomerang, CNN, TNT and TCM Turner Classic Movies, as well as country- and region-specific networks and businesses in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

The appointment comes as part of a wider shake up at Turner’s EMEA division, which has also seen Jaime Ondarza, senior VP for Southern Europe and Africa, take on the additional responsibility of general manager.

Meanwhile, director for sales and business development Guillaume Coffin has been promoted to VP, head of commercial and business development for France, French-speaking territories, Africa and Israel.

Former Canal J and Disney Channel France exec Borde will leave his role as MD for digital services programming at France Télévisions, having joined the pubcaster in 2005 as head of children’s programming at France 3.

He went on to oversee France Télévisions’ entire children’s unit before taking responsiblity for the broadcaster’s SVoD platform.

“Julien has a long track record in the area of kids and entertainment programming, with proven competence in content production, programming, acquisition, digital media and marketing,” said Ondarza.
