Boomerang to unpack NBCUniversal’s Baggage for La 1 and RTVE Play in Spain

The original version of Baggage debuted in the US in 2010.

Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has given the green light to ¿Algo que declara? (Something to Declare?), a local version of dating format Baggage which is distributed by NBCUniversal Formats, part of Universal International Studios.

The local production will be handled by Boomerang TV and will air during the summer on La 1’s primetime channel and also screen on digital platform RTVE Play.

Comedian and actor Pablo Chiapella will host the show, where in each episode three candidates in search of love face off against nine suitors who hide personal secrets in their ‘suitcases,’ which become larger the more important the secret.

Something to Declare? is open to all participants, regardless of age, sexual orientation or past experiences, and seeks to showcase the diversity of sexual and gender identity in society.

The original version of Baggage aired in the US on the cable channel GSN between 2010 and 2012. Since then, the show has had adaptations in the UK, France, Mexico, Denmark, China, and Vietnam.

In Mexico, Televisa-Univision’s Canal 5 premiered its version last year under the title The Box of Secrets.
