Boomerang picks up Monchhichi

Turner-owned kids’ streaming service Boomerang has acquired US rights to a CGI-animated series based on cult Japanese toy Monchhichi.

Monchhichi is coproduced by Paris-based Technicolor Animation Productions and TF1 in collaboration with Sekiguchi.

The show first debuted in October 2017 on TF1 and became one of its top-performing shows. It has since aired across Europe on channels including Clan (Spain), RTS (Switzerland) DeA Kids (Italy), NRK Super (Norway) and MTVA (Hungary). The series also had its Latin America debut in May this year on Discovery Kids.

Monchhichi are a community of friendly characters with a mission to act as sleep custodians for children. More than 100 million dolls plus accessories have been sold in more than 40 countries since the toy’s launch in Japan in 1974.

PGS Entertainment is the global series distributor excluding France.
