Bodhitree Multimedia signs $57.8m deal with Assam government to launch media hub

Bodhitree Multimedia has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Assam

Indian prodco Bodhitree Multimedia has signed a Rupee 5bn (US$57.8m) memorandum of understanding with the Government of Assam to launch a media hub in Guwahati.

The partnership aims to transform Guwahati into “a vital centre for film, television and cultural activities” that will “significantly enhance Assam’s global profile,” according to the company.

The planned facilities include a media city, a luxury seven-star wellness resort and an ‘immersive India Pavilion’ to showcase the country’s cultural diversity, with the intention of driving economic growth, creating jobs and boosting tourism.

Mautik Tolia, CEO of Bodhitree Multimedia, said: “This initiative is designed to attract international studios with state-of-the-art facilities, significantly boosting entertainment tourism in the region. Our shared vision with the Government of Assam focuses on creating a vibrant environment that fosters creativity, innovation and economic growth.
