Boden to head Ink Factory development

The Ink Factory, producer of The Little Drummer Girl and The Night Manager, has hired former BBC Drama and Big Light Productions exec Maggie Boden as director of development.

Maggie Boden

Boden is joining the London- and LA-based firm having worked most recently as a development producer for Frank Spotniz’s Big Light Productions and BBC Drama Studios, where she worked alongside Hilary Salmon (Luther, MotherFatherSon) and Neil McKay (Dream Horse, Appropriate Adult).

Prior to that, Boden worked as a development producer at Mainstreet Pictures on original drama projects for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky, and her credits include work on Mr Selfridge, Scott & Bailey and Agatha Christie’s Poirot.

Boden will report to The Ink Factory’s recently appointed creative diredctor, Katherine Butler, formerly Raw Scripted’s creative director and Film4’s deputy head of film.

Simon and Stephen Cornwell, co-CEOs and founders at The Ink Factory, said: “The Ink Factory is, at its core, a creative enterprise, committed to originating and developing high-quality, thought-provoking entertainment.

“With exceptional talent like Maggie joining us in the UK under the expert guidance of Katherine, we are creating an enhanced development capability and look forward to significantly expanding our roster of distinctive, original projects in both television and film, and to further strengthening our creative network.”

Butler added: “Together with her wide-ranging experience and relationships, Maggie brings super-strong creative instincts and impeccable taste with her, which will be essential in continuing to build out The Ink Factory’s slate of meaningful, original and brilliantly executed projects.”

The appointment follows the recent partnership with Endeavor Content, the distribution and content finance arm of US entertainment group Endeavor, which took a minority stake in the business.

The partnership will see Endeavor Content set up a development fund for The Ink Factory to draw on and aims to specifically address the US market with high-end, premium TV series.

Endeavor Content will have a formal first-look agreement covering both TV and film to sell Ink Factory projects internationally.
