Boat Rocker, Anonymous Content team for political thriller documentary

Canada’s Boat Rocker Media and US-based Anonymous Content have partnered to finance and sell an as-yet untitled political thriller documentary that was filmed last month over two days in Washington DC.

Details of the project, which is co-directed by filmmakers Jesse Moss (Boys State) and Tony Gerber (The Notorious Mr Bout, Full Battle Rattle), have not yet been revealed, with Moss noting only that it is “equal parts political thriller, dystopian science fiction and intimate cinema vérité.”

Moss and Gerber previously co-directed the 2008 film Full Battle Rattle, which looked at life inside the US Army’s Iraq simulation in the California desert.

The new documentary is being executive produced by Ivan Schneeberg, David Fortier and Jay Peterson for Boat Rocker; Todd Lubin for Boat Rocker-owned Matador Content; Dawn Olmstead and David Levine for Anonymous Content; and Warren Littlefield for The Littlefield Co.

Boat Rocker has expanded its focus on feature-length documentaries over the past two years. Its slate of doc projects includes Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last month, and BS High, currently in production with HBO. Both titles are produced by Matador Content.

Toronto-headquartered Boat Rocker also produced the upcoming doc Le Bal: A Modern Debutante, which is produced via its prodco Maven. The project is the first documentary to be fully financed by Boat Rocker.
