Blue Ant unveils slate of Love Nature titles for pre-sales, licensing at Sunnyside

Lion Mountain Media’s Pride Rules

SUNNYSIDE: Canada’s Blue Ant Studios is here in La Rochelle, France, this week with a slate of greenlit projects for its natural history network Love Nature that are available to pre-buy and license.

Blue Ant Studios will manage international licensing and pre-sales of the recently greenlit natural history titles from producers including Wild Pacific Media, Films à Cinq, Lion Mountain Media, Passion Planet and WildBear Entertainment.

Pride Rules (working title, 5×60’), from Lion Mountain Media, reveals how lion prides survive and thrive in the Chobe region of Botswana. Against the backdrop of environmental challenges, the series examines the intricacies of pride dynamics as the resident lions grapple with pride politics, both internally and when facing rival prides in the territory.

The Kimberley (working title, 3×60’), from Wild Pacific Media, is a co-commission with pubcasters Arte in France and ABC in Australia. This three-part series immerses viewers in the Kimberley, a barely seen environmental wonderland and one of the wildest places on earth in the North-Western corner of Australia.

Captured by Australian wildlife and aerial cinematographers using innovative filmmaking techniques, the episodes reveal never-before-seen wildlife behaviour and the inner workings of these ecosystems. The series received production support from Screen Australia.

Reteti Elephant Rescue (working title, 2×60’), from Passion Planet, is a coproduction with WNET Group in the US and focuses on an elephant rescue centre in Northern Kenya.

13 Hours to Survive (2×60’), from Films à Cinq/CAPA and Arte, is a two-part special that offers an up-close look at the survival battle that sea creatures face with the coming of each low tide.

WildBear is working on Planet Weird, a quirky 6×60’ celebration of the planet’s most bizarre creatures. The Australian factual specialist is also working on Coral City (4×60’), featuring never-before-seen underwater footage of marine life, seascapes and animal behaviours on the Great Barrier Reef.

The slate of new originals will premiere on Love Nature worldwide and roll out on Sky Nature in the UK, Italy and Germany in addition to premieres across co-commissioning territories.

Blue Ant Studios and Love Nature have a combined presence here at Sunnyside of the Doc that includes co-sponsoring and moderating the Nature & Conservation Pitch and participating in a Meet the Executives panel session that will give insight into Blue Ant Media’s production, distribution and global channels businesses.
