Blue Ant ships ITN’s Matthew Perry doc into more than 50 territories

MIPCOM: Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy, a documentary about the death of the Friends star in 2023, has been acquired by broadcasters in more than 50 territories, including Bravo in New Zealand, Stan in Australia and NBCUniversal Global Networks Latin America (spanning 33 Lat Am territories).

The 60-minute doc, produced by ITN for NBCUniversal-owned streamer Peacock, was also acquired by ITV Rights (Ireland and UK), NRK (Norway), the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, TV4 (Sweden), MTV (Finland), Quebecor Content (French Canada) and Dox TV (for Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Kosovo).

The deals were struck by Blue Ant Rights, the distribution arm of Canada’s Blue Ant Media, which handles international sales, and announced on the first day on Mipcom here in Cannes.

Blue Ant took the project, which tells the story of the Friends actor’s shocking death and the people who have been charged in relation to it, out to buyers at the London Screenings in February.

Other titles on Blue Ant’s Mipcom slate include Taylor Swift documentary two-parter Taylor, as well as Judi Dench: Shakespeare, My Family & Me (1×60’), The Great Art Fraud (2×60’) and Never Get Busted! (1×90’).
