Blaze picks A+E, Curve’s Irish Pickers

Irish Pickers will premiere on Blaze March

A+E Networks UK and Curve Media are coproducing an Irish version of US series American Pickers for A+E’s free-to-air channel Blaze.

Irish Pickers (10×60′) follows Dublin-based vintage connoisseur Ian Dowling as he and his team discover, buy and sell “Irish treasures,” ranging from ornaments to street signs and retro games to model cars.

Irish Pickers is the second locally originated copro for Blaze, following Flipping Bangers, which premiered its second season in April last year.

Diana Carter, commissioning editor at A+E, is exec producing the series. It will premiere on Blaze in the UK and Ireland in March.

The original version, American Pickers, follows two antique and collectible dealers as they travel the US looking for unique items. Produced by A&E Television Networks and Cineflix Media, the series first premiered on History a decade ago.

“We’re delighted to be giving this much-loved programming brand a new lease of life by taking it to a country so rich in history and culture,” said Dan Korn, VP of programming at A+E.

“Ian and the gang are a perfect for Blaze – no-nonsense, warm, authentic characters, with a great sense of fun and adventure, who really know their stuff.”
