Birdo, Symbiosys partner for Oswaldo

Oswaldo centres on a penguin adopted by human parents

Birdo Studio in Brazil and India’s Symbiosys Entertainment are teaming up to coproduce new episodes of children’s animated comedy Oswaldo.

The 13×11’ first season of Oswaldo is currently airing on Cartoon Network Latin America and Brazil’s TV Cultura. It follows the adventures of a penguin adopted by human parents who must now face the challenge of surviving school.

In what is described as the first coproduction on an animated series between Brazil and India, Birdo and Symbiosys will build on the success of the first season and produce a further 39 episodes. Pre- and post-production will be handled by Birdo, with Symbiosys providing the animation.

The deal was brokered by Brenda Wooding of US-based children’s and family entertainment company Kid Glove, which will act as international distributor for the series. Having already sold the first 13 episodes to Cartoon Network, Kid Glove has secured a pre-sale for the new episodes with the same net, with further global deals pending.
