Big Media, Insurgence partner to launch 60 YouTube channels, plan total of 300

Wardens focuses on US conservation officers

LA-based producer-distributor Big Media and indie film studio Insurgence are partnering to launch 60 new documentary-focused YouTube channels.

The new channels will span science and engineering, wildlife, crime, paranormal, food, home and garden, fishing, hunting, history and war, and will be populated with over 2,000 hours of content from Big Media.

The companies said there are plans in place to grow to more than 300 YouTube channels, with each localised in 10 different languages.

The digital undertaking is made possible by Insurgence StudiOS, a proprietary platform that claims to “automate content delivery, channel creation, metadata management and artificial intelligence-driven editorial selection.”

Big Media, led by Jon Loew, is behind series including Wardens, which follows the work of US conservation officers. It represents more than 4,000 hours of factual content and has offices in the US, UK, Czech Republic, Germany and India.

Insurgence, founded in 2019 by tech exec Niccolo Messina, says it has premiered more than 100 original movies and 60 documentaries on its channels, garnering seven billion streams internationally.
