Big Media, Break the Format track down Railroad Killer for docuseries copro

US unscripted specialist Big Media has partnered with Mexico- and Florida-based prodco Break the Format (BTF) Media to coproduce a true crime series about a serial killer who evaded capture on both sides of the US-Mexico border for three decades.

A+E Networks EMEA has already licensed The Railroad Killer, which is being produced in both English and Spanish, for broadcast in the UK.

New York-based Big Media and BTF Media, which control worldwide rights to the 5×60’ series, will begin showcasing it at MipTV, with the companies saying the project is “available for licensing and other business models worldwide.”

The docuseries examines the life of Ángel Maturino Reséndiz, who is believed to have raped and killed more than 60 women. He was eventually captured by a 31-year-old rookie Texas Ranger named Drew Carter.
