Big Light Productions boards Swedish sci-fi drama We Come in Peace as coproducer

We Come in Peace is coproduced by Black Spark Film & TV

LONDON TV SCREENINGS: Frank Spotnitz’s London-based prodco Big Light Productions (The Man in the High Castle) has boarded upcoming Swedish sci-fi drama series We Come in Peace as a coproducer.

We Come in Peace comes from Black Spark Film & TV and has just wrapped production in Sweden, with premiere scheduled for late 2025.

Produced for Sweden’s TV4 and Germany’s ZDF, the plot explores the chaos unleashed when a mysterious jellyfish-like object appears in the sky over Stockholm, sparking widespread panic, fear and confusion among the population.

Big Light initially boarded the series in 2023, since when it has been assisting creator and writer Lars Lundström (Real Humans) and producer Piodor Gustafsson (Border, The Lamb) with development and script supervision.

We Come in Peace is Big Light’s first non-English-language drama, with CEO Spotnitz and senior development producer Adrian Banyard exec producing. It marks Spotnitz’s return to sci-fi after writing and exec producing on The X-Files.

Spotnitz said: “I’ve been approached countless times to get involved with alien sci-fi dramas since The X-Files and always said no. But when I read the pilot for We Come In Peace, I had to say yes. This isn’t just another sci-fi series; it’s compelling, grounded, thought-provoking and deeply human.”

We come in Peace is directed by Jens Jonsson and Mani Maserrat-Agah. Lundström’s Snyggfin Production, Swedish prodco Infinite Entertainment, Dansu in Lithuania and Beside Productions in Belgium are also coproducers, in association with broadcasters TV 2 in Norway, MTV in Finland and C More in Denmark. Additional financing comes from the Nordisk Film & TV Fund and Creative Europe.

TF1 in France’s Newen Connect, part of Newen Studios, also boarded the series in 2023 to secure early pre-financing and help shape its development for international audiences. The distributor is handling all international sales and will present the drama to buyers at the London TV Screenings this week.
