Big Brother last aired in Germany five years ago

German broadcaster Sat.1 is bringing back Endemol Shine Group (ESG) reality format Big Brother after five years.

The channel is also set to launch a celebrity version on August 9, which will also be produced by Endemol Shine Germany.

The show’s return to Germany marks the third recent comeback for the format, which aired on TVN7 in Poland after a 10-year break.

Meanwhile, Nelonen Media in Finland has ordered its first series of Big Brother from Endemol Shine Finland.

The format last aired in Finland five years ago on the MTV-owned channel Sub TV. The new deal will see the show launch on Nelonen’s Jim and Ruutu in the autumn.

This year marks 20 years since Big Brother made its worldwide debut in the Netherlands and many markets will celebrate the anniversary in 2020, ESG said.
