Big Bad Boo, Highlights bring IP to TV

Vancouver-based producer Big Bad Boo Studios has teamed up with US magazine Highlights for Children to bring the latter’s characters to the screen.

Big Bad Boo and Highlights will work together to develop, finance, produce and distribute animated series based on some of the magazine’s most popular characters and properties.

Kent Johnson, Highlights CEO, said working with Big Bad Boo would help his company “leverage both our long-held values and our brand reach in new media. We view our mission as creating content and experiences that help children navigate an increasingly complex world.”

Big Bad Boo co-founder Shabnam Rezaei added: “For decades, Highlights has engaged kids across the country with the goal to inspire curiosity, creativity, caring and confidence – values that Big Bad Boo infuses in all its properties. Together, we hope to introduce a new generation to classic brands like Who & Coo and Top Secret Adventures.”

Big Bad Boo is currently producing The Bravest Knight for Hulu and developing Judge Jodhi, as well as a series of digital games and apps.
