Beta Film finds 257 Reasons to Live

257 Reasons to Live centres on a cancer patient who goes into remission

Germany-based distributor Beta Film has picked up the finished tape and format rights to Russian comedy series 257 Reasons to Live.

The feel-good series is produced by Start Studios, the production arm of Russia’s Yellow, Black and White Entertainment Group (YBW) and is due to premiere on START in Russia later this spring.

Beta has acquired international rights excluding the US to the 13×30’ original series as well as the format rights.

The plot follows terminal cancer patient Zhenya who unexpectedly goes into remission and receives the all-clear. Unable to believe her luck, Zhenya is determined not to waste a minute of her second chance.

However, what should be the happiest day of her life quickly turns into a disaster. Her boyfriend dumps her, her colleagues are unhappy to see her return and her younger sister won’t let go of the income she created from online fundraising for Zhenya’s treatment.
