Belgian sex drama sells for High Point

UK-based distributor High Point Films & Television has sold its Belgian sex traffic drama Matrioshki into a number of new territories, taking the show’s total roll-out up to 73 countries.

The latest deals on the 10-parter include Viasat Broadcasting for Scandinavia and Hungary, Sogecable for Spain, RUV for Iceland, Tonis TV for the Ukraine, TV Polska for Poland, HRT for Croatia as well as pubcaster YLE for Finland.

The series debuted in the UK on the FX channel this week and has previously been sold to FX (UK & Brazil), M6 (France), LAP TV (Latin America), Ren TV (Russia), SBS (Australia), RTV (Slovenia), LRT (Lithuania), Latvian TV, Kanal2 (Estonia), RTVFB (Bosnia) and TV Markiza (Slovakia) among others.

Produced by Belgium’s Independent Films for VTM Belgium and Canal Plus, the drama delves into the global trafficking of young women, tricked into prostitution by gangsters. Independent Films’ founder, Marc Punt directed the series.
