Northern Irish kids’ prodco Paper Owl Films has opened a new studio in Belfast to help meet the company’s growth strategy and expand its slate of in-house productions.

The 5,000 square foot facility will house Paper Owl’s core team of creatives working across animation, production, design, live action and post-production.

Paper Owl said the studio will also help grow its capacity to capitalise on copro opportunities with global partners.

Founded in 2012 by Gráinne McGuinness, Stephen Petticrew and Gavin Halpin, Paper Owl produces both animation and live action content. It is currently in production on Pablo: Boy Meets World for BBC Children’s, Crayola Studios and Ireland’s RTÉjr.

The prodco is also currently working on preschool series Nikhil & Jay with King Banana and Cake for CBeebies, and Celtic-inspired anime series Lí Ban for Cúla4/TG4 in Ireland and S4C in Wales.
