Beat the Channel finds EMEA buyers

Beat the Channel originally aired on ProSieben

Prodcos in Spain, Portugal, France and the Middle East have picked up gameshow format Beat the Channel from Red Arrow Studios International.

Banijay-owned DLO Magnolia in Spain, Endemol Shine in Portugal, French indie Deeply Superficial and Dubai-based Different Productions are developing local versions of the format.

Beat the Channel sees two TV presenters compete to win a 15-minute live broadcast slot in which anything can be aired. The celebs must overcome a series of challenges from their own host channel to win.

The show was originally a Florida Entertainment production for German pubcaster ProSieben. Both the latter and Red Arrow are part of the ProSiebenSat.1 group.

Additionally, ProSieben has commissioned a third season of the series, after S1 boosted ProSieben ratings in every demo by up to 122%, according to Red Arrow.

Bo Stehmeier, president at Red Arrow Studios International, said: “Broadcasters around the world are looking for live event television to boost and differentiate their schedules. With its high-energy, hilarious stunts, games and celebrity guests, Beat the Channel has all the ingredients to achieve just that.”
