BBCWW’s Planet Earth II orbits Europe

Planet Earth II

The Planet Earth follow-up will again be narrated by David Attenborough

Swedish pubcaster SVT and Mediaset in Italy are among broadcasters preparing to air factual epic Planet Earth II after securing deals with BBC Worldwide (BBCWW).

BBCWW has been unveiling its factual shows to buyers at Showcase in Liverpool, with the BBC Natural History Unit-produced show leading the line-up.

The 6×50’ and 1×50’ show, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, is a coproduction between the BBC, BBC America, ZDF in Germany and France Télévisions and comes a decade after the critically acclaimed Planet Earth, which sold to more than 230 territories.

DR in Denmark has also pre-bought the Planet Earth II (fka One Planet), while Mediaset will be an ‘in an association with’ partner in Italy.

The show uses new filming technology and science to explore the earth and its inhabitants, taking viewers through jungles, deserts, mountains, islands, grasslands and cities.

The natural history slate also features: Seasonal Wonderlands (3×50’), which explores how creatures cope with changing weather; The Great Race (3×50’), about the migratory habits of three animals; and Weird Wonders of the World (8×50’), about bizarre science, animal oddities and crazy weather.
