BBCWW sends Decision to India

An Indian youth-skewing net has commissioned BBC Worldwide’s production outcrop in the country to make a local version of reality series My Big Decision.

Channel V has ordered a seven-episode run of the format, which follows a group of young people as they go on a series of journeys of self-discovery.

NATPE 2012Each episode focuses on a particular issue, such as liposuction, dropping out of college or sex changes.

The series will be produced by BBC Worldwide Productions India and hosted by Bollywood star Sandhya Mridul.

The unscripted format was originally created by UK indie Love Productions and licensed to BBCWW for international distribution. It first aired on UK diginet BBC3 in 2009.

Prem Kamath, executive VP and general manager for Channel V said: “My Big Decision is an endeavour by Channel V to guide the youth of today who have such larger than life decisions to make due to various influences. The show has been conceptualised on the premise that the youth is dabbling regularly with issues that nobody wishes to address.”

The programme will air later this month.

BBCWW’s Indian production unit has previously produced local versions of formats including The Week the Women Went (aka Wife Bina Life), Baby Borrowers (aka Pati, Patni Aur Who) and Dancing with the Stars (aka Jhalak Dikhla Ja).
