BBCWW preps Intruders for Mipcom

BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) is taking 12 new dramas and eight returning series to Mipcom next month, including paranormal thriller Intruders.

The firm’s slate includes scripted series, true-life dramas and comedies, but is headed by BBCWW Productions’ Intruders (8×43’), written by Glen Morgan (The X-Files) and about a secret society devoted to the search for immortality.

It has been produced for BBC America and stars Oscar winner Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite) and John Simm (Life on Mars, Prey) and is adapted from Michael Marshall Smith’s novel, The Intruders.

The commercial arm of the UK pubcaster is also selling Our Zoo (6×50’), which explores the founders of Chester Zoo in the 1930s, and The Refugees (8×50’). The thriller, produced by Spain’s Bambú Producciones for Atresmedia and BBCWW, stars Game of Thrones’ Natalia Tena and Will Keen (Titanic) and explores the impact of a disaster on a small, rural community.

Other shows on BBCWW’s slate include: The Passing Bells (5×30’ or 4×45’ or 2×90’), about the First World War, season eight of Doctor Who, the second run of Atlantis, the fourth season of Call the Midwife, the third run of Last Tango in Halifax and the eleventh season of New Tricks.

The third season of cop drama Ripper Street is also on BBCWW’s slate, having been revived earlier this year after a deal with Amazon. BBCWW has since taken a 35% stake in London-based Lookout Point, one of the production companies behind the show.
