BBCWW preps Attenborough app

BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) is launching a free app that will allow viewers from around the world to access more than 1,000 TV clips from natural history legend David Attenborough’s career.

The Story of Life app is being developed for BBCWW’s factual brand BBC Earth and will offer an array of work from Attenborough, who celebrated his 90th birthday yesterday.

Users will be able to watch segments taken from early shows such as Zoo Quest, as well as more recent series including Planet Earth and Frozen Planet.

The app, aimed at families, is being created with digital outfit AKQA and will be available this fall via Apple and Android operating systems.

It will allow users to discover hundreds of animal species and explore their environments and behaviour.

Broadcasters around the world have been marking the famed naturalist’s 90th birthday, including the BBC, Sweden’s SVT, Sky and ABC in Oz.
