BBCWW hires India production boss

The commercial arm of UK pubcaster the BBC has appointed an exec to oversee its production business in India across both scripted and factual shows.

Akhauri Sinha has been named chief operating officer of content and production of as BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) India and will be based in Mumbai, reporting to Myleeta Aga, senior VP and general manager of India and content head for Asia.

Akhauri’s remit includes responsibility for the production of BBCWW formats and locally developed concepts for the Indian market, as well as developing strategies to increase commissions.

He was most recently working at visual effects firm Moving Picture Company in Bangalore, where he headed up the Indian studio for the firm. Before that, Akhauri worked with Nimbus, managing the film entertainment division.

Aga said Akhauri’s appointment would allow BBCWW India to “continue to produce quality formats and local productions that will appeal to our growing audience.”
