BBCWW explores North Korean deal

BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) is reportedly in talks with North Korea’s state-run broadcaster to license programming from its library, which includes the likes of Top Gear and Doctor Who.

According to The Sunday Times, the British Foreign Secretary, William Hague, is “helping” BBCWW strike a deal in the territory, which is notoriously shut-off to outsiders.

“Programmes sent to North Korea would have to be something that isn’t offensive, like Mr Bean, EastEnders, Miss Marple or Poirot,” a Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) source told the British newspaper.
