BBCS brings The Chalk Man to screen

BBC Studios (BBCS), in association with LA-based producers Nice Media Studios and Windowseat, has secured the rights to develop a screen version of CJ Tudor’s novel The Chalk Man.

Set in an English village, The Chalk Man tells the story of Eddie and his four school friends, who leave each other secret messages through chalk drawings of stick men, until one day the chalk men lead them to the body of a 17-year-old girl.

Thirty years later, Eddie believes the past is far behind him, until an envelope slips through his letterbox containing a stick of chalk and a drawing of a stick man.

Mick Ford will adapt the book into a six-part drama, which will be produced by BBC Studios Drama.

The executive producers will be Tom Sherry and Priscilla Parish for BBCS, Nice Media chief creative officer Sam Sokolow and Windowseat partner and co-founder Bill Kiely.
