BBC4 takes nuclear option

BBC4 in the UK has ordered a series of programmes to mark the 70th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima.

BBC4 Goes Nuclear leads with one-off doc Britain’s Nuclear Secrets: Inside Sellafield, which is being coproduced by Artlab Films and BBC Scotland and gives audiences unprecedented access to the UK nuclear facility.

It joins The Race for the World’s First Atomic Bomb: A Thousand Days of Fear (1×60′), which explores the story of those who worked on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos.

Meanwhile, Tom Harper’s film War Book (1×95′) tells the story of game between government officials that exposes the fragility of our everyday lives and those who govern them, while Atomic – Living in Dread and Promise (1×70′), produced by Mark Cousins, will air on the channel’s Storyville strand and explore the bombing of Hiroshima.
