BBC4 examines Beauty of Anatomy

BBC4 in the UK has commissioned a five-part specialist factual series on the anatomy of the human body.

The Northern Ireland office of Scotland-based indie Tern TV is working on The Beauty of Anatomy (5×30’), which charts discoveries in anatomy through the centuries and the works of art that illustrate them.

The series, which will air later this month, will be fronted by scientist Dr Adam Rutherford and is executive produced by head of Tern Belfast Brendan Hughes, Harry Bell and Greg Sanderson, commissioning editor for the BBC.

Cassian Harrison, BBC4 channel editor, and Mark Bell, head of arts commissioning, greenlit the show, which follows the success of three previous Beauty of… series from Tern TV for BBC4.

Funding was provided jointly by BBC Arts, BBC Worldwide and Northern Ireland Screen.
