BBC takes on The Wild Gardener

Colin Stafford-Johnson fronts The Wild Gardener

BBC2 and BBC Northern Ireland have commissioned a series about gardening and wildlife preservation that will show viewers how to transform their gardens into wildlife havens.

Presented by Colin Stafford-Johnson, The Wild Gardener (working title) sees the cameraman return home after decades of filming the earth’s dwindling wildlife and embark on a personal journey of garden redemption.

Having just inherited his boyhood country garden in Ireland, which had been perfectly pruned by his TV gardener father, Stafford-Johnson rips it up and turns it into a wildlife wonderland.

“Whether in a remote village or suffocating suburb, your garden patch – big or small – can genuinely help our beleaguered natural world,” Stafford-Johnson said.

Produced by Crossing Line Productions, The Wild Gardener will run as a 2×60’ series on BBC2 and as a 4×30’ series on BBC Northern Ireland. Cepa Giblin is the producer.
