BBC takes a tumble

The BBC has commissioned two new primetime formats via its in-house entertainment arm, including one that sees celebrities given a crash course in gymnastics.

Let’s Get Ready To Tumble (working title) is a live competition show in which celebrities are tasked with vaulting, tumbling and flipping head-over-heels to try and win the public’s votes.

Meanwhile, Your Home In Their Hands is a transformational makeover series for BBC1, where home owners hand over their front door keys to amateur home decorators.

Charlotte Moore, controller of BBC1, said: “These two new entertainment series reflect the range and creative ambition of in-house.”

BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) has invested in both series and will be distributing the formats internationally.

In related news, the UK pubcaster has commissioned a second season (5×45′) of its daytime drama series WPC 56, which airs on BBC1.

Produced by BBC Birmingham Drama Village, the series follows the first woman police constable to serve in her West Midlands hometown in 1956.
