BBC Studios rejigs Asia Pacific team

BBC Studios (BBCS) has promoted two of its executives to territory distribution leads in Asia Pacific.

Cheryl Png

Cheryl Png has been upped to VP of distribution for South-East Asia and Stanley Fernandes becomes VP of distribution for South Asia.

Both will work across content sales, affiliate sales and digital sales in what BBCS called a more “integrated and geographically focused approach” to its distribution business in these territories.

The promotions were announced by Ryan Shiotani, senior VP and general manager for BBCS South and South-East Asia.

Previously Png headed the affiliate sales business for the South-East Asia region, while Fernandes led content sales for South and South-East Asia.

The duo will also oversee new revenue opportunities for the distribution business, BBCS added.

Png has been head of distribution, channels and digital at BBCS South-East Asia for the last two years, having joined the BBC as a senior affiliate sales manager in 2014.

Stanley Fernandes

She was previously with Fox Networks and ESPN Star Sports and has also spent time at Newsweek, SPH and StarHub.

Prior to joining BBCS, Fernandes held various positions in the media sector over 23 years, joining the BBC from Disney Media Distribution.

“This new approach also puts the focus on our valued clients, offering them an integrated content distribution service in the hands of their local experts,” said Shiotani.

In addition, programming and sales executive Sweta Sriram has been promoted to manager, content and brands for the South Asia region, reporting to Fernandes.
