BBCS set up a specialist factual productions unit within its factual arm, led by the former head of its documentary unit Holland, last month.

The unit will focus on subjects such as history, arts, music and culture in factual programming and is already working on a slate of commissions for the BBC and third parties.

Lee has a track record as head of production, production executive and line producer across a career spanning 25 years.

She has worked on a range of specialist factual, documentaries and current affairs productions and coproductions, with partners, including BBC, Nat Geo, Netflix, Sky, ITV and Channel 4.

Most recently she has been working as head of production at Drum Studios and has also worked with many other indies including Studio Ramsey, Pulse Films and Curious Films.

Lee said: “I admire the teams’ commitment to producing thought-provoking and high-quality programmes and I’m excited to be part of such a well-regarded team with a commitment to create a truly diverse and inclusive production environment.”

Lee’s appointment completes the leadership team with Holland as head of unit, Abigail Priddle as creative director and Suzanne McKenna leading commercial and business development.
