BBC rides with ABC Armstrong doc

The BBC has picked up a factual special about disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong from Australian broadcaster ABC.

Stop At Nothing: The Lance Armstrong Story will air on BBC4 in July as part of its Storyville documentary strand.

The show explores Armstrong’s lifestyle and relationships and reveals new details about the scandal, which exposed the Tour de France winner as a prolific drugs cheat.

It was coproduced by ABC Commercial and Passion Pictures and directed by Bafta-winning Alex Holmes (Dunkirk, House of Saddam), with John Battsek (One Day in September, Searching for Sugar Man) and Phil Craig (The Flight that Fought Back, Targeting Bin Laden) attached as exec producers.

Nick Fraser, commissioning editor for Storyville, said the show was a “a formidable piece of investigative journalism that gets to the darkest places in contemporary world sport and money.”
