BBC Player to launch in Singapore

BBC Worldwide is launching a multi-genre streaming service for subscribers in Singapore via StarHub TV.

BBC Player will feature curated content from five BBC global brands – BBC Earth, BBC First, BBC Lifestyle, CBeebies and BBC World News – plus BBC Brit, a new global brand that the new service makes available in Asia for the first time.

It will debut in Singapore to StarHub TV customers later this year, making the country the launch pad for the new service.

Paul Dempsey, president of global markets at the BBC’s commercial arm, said: “I’m delighted that audiences in Singapore, one of the most connected countries in the world with the highest smartphone penetration, will be the first to experience this quality for themselves with the inaugural launch of BBC Player.”

At launch, the authenticated BBC Player app will be available for Android and iOS devices. It will also be available online.
