BBC picks up Mentorn culinary contest

Corner Shop Cook Off sees chef compete use convenience store ingredients

UK pubcaster the BBC has commissioned three factual series from the Scottish arm of Tinopolis-owned UK prodco Mentorn.

Corner Shop Cook-Off (6×60’) is being produced for BBC Scotland and is described as a culinary show with a twist.

Presented by Clare Grogan, each episode sees a professional chef go head-to-head with the resident chef (MasterChef professional winner Gary Maclean) to create three courses using only ingredients bought from a featured corner shop.

Comedian Mark Nelson will front Bad Influencer (6×30’), also for BBC Scotland. Each week he will be joined by two comedy guests to look through the funniest social media posts relating to a range of set topics, from family and friends to dogs and the Scottish diet.

Finally, Get Rich or Try Dying (working title, 1×60’) is for BBC4 and will look at what happens to pop stars and their estates when they die.
