BBC lines up Christie adaptations

And Then There Were None

And Then There Were None aired on the BBC over Christmas

Agatha Christie Productions has agreed a four-year deal with the BBC that will see seven novels adapted by the UK pubcaster.

The first will be Ordeal By Innocence, which is being adapted by Sarah Phelps and produced by ITV-owned Mammoth Screen.

The producer-writer duo were behind the BBC’s recent adaptation of Christie’s novel And Then There Were None, which aired over Christmas.

BBC1 also ordered an adaptation of Christie’s 1925 short story The Witness for the Prosecution in June from the same pair, with RLJ Entertainment’s Acorn TV premiering the show in the US.

Other Christie novels slated for TV include Egypt-set Death Comes As The End and The ABC Murders, set in the 1930s.

Hilary Strong, CEO of Agatha Christie Ltd, said her company was “thrilled to be bringing this psychologically rich, visceral and contemporary sensibility to more classic Christie titles for a new generation of fans.”
