BBC bags Blue Chalk’s Brides

The BBC’s global news channel has picked up a doc about Japanese war brides from New York City-based Blue Chalk Media, marking the prodco’s first longform TV sale.

Fall Seven Times, Get Up Eight: The Japanese War Brides tells the story of women who were born in Japan but taken to the US as brides of young GIs who had been fighting in the country.

The doc will premiere globally on BBC World News Channel on August 15 as part of commemorations to mark the end of World War Two.

The deal for the show, which features interviews with the brides and their children, was negotiated by Maria Ishak, VP of business development at Blue Chalk.
