BBC acquires Gallic superhero action series The Sentinels

UK public broadcaster the BBC has picked up French superhero action series The Sentinels for BBC Four and streamer iPlayer.

Produced by Federation Studio France and Esprits Frappeurs, the eight-part series stars Louis Peres as a wounded First World War soldier who is injected with a mysterious serum which gives him unprecedented abilities.

Based on comic book Les Sentinelles by Xavier Dorison and Enrique Breccia, it was originally broadcast on Canal+ across 30 countries in Europe, Africa and Asia, marking the company’s first multi-continental launch.

The series is distributed by StudioCanal which has sealed the deal with the BBC following similar deals in Australia (SBS), Belgium (BeTV and Play Media), Germany (ProSieben), Canada (TV5), Denmark (DR), Greece (NOVA), Portugal (NOS), Spain (Disney), Turkey (Tivibu).
