Banijay UK signs up Jack Whitehall for two-year non-scripted deal

Banijay UK has signed an exclusive two-year deal with British comedian and actor Jack Whitehall that will see him develop non-scripted projects with the group.

Whitehall and his production company, Jackpot, have partnered with Banijay UK companies to create and develop non-scripted ideas for both linear and streaming services.

These could see Whitehall in both on-screen and off-screen roles and include a range of non-scripted genres, including blue-chip documentaries, panel shows, singles, events and returning series.

The agreement builds on the existing long-term relationship Whitehall has with the Banijay UK producers, which have made shows such as Netflix’s Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father, Backchat and Bad Education.

The deal begins immediately. Whitehall will continue to work on scripted projects and with the Banijay UK group’s drama and comedy producers.

Lucinda Hicks, CEO at Banijay UK, said: “As well as being a brilliant and hugely versatile performer, Jack, as well as Ricard Ackerman, who will be heading up the creative team, have an astute sense of what makes great TV and how to engage with audiences around the world.”
