Banijay Rights extends first-look partnership with factual outfit Proper Content

Channel 4’s The School That Tried to End Racism

Banijay Rights, the distribution arm of European production giant Banijay, has extended its first-look development deal with UK factual specialist Proper Content.

Under the new agreement, which runs for two years, the companies will continue developing shows for the UK and international markets.

The collaboration was established under the IndieLab production accelerator programme in 2019. Since then, the partnership has yielded content such as The School That Tried to End Racism (2×60’) for UK pubcaster Channel 4 and documentary The Queen’s Guards (5×60’) for Channel 5.

“From ground-breaking social experiments to incredible access documentaries, our partnership with Proper Content has been nothing but fruitful and we are pleased to extend it,” said Leila Hobday, VP of acquisitions at Banijay Rights, who brokered the deal.
