The promotion sees him move from his previous position as chief of staff to a more business-orientated strategic role.

Reporting directly to Banijay CEO Marco Bassetti, Balmary has been briefed with steering the long-term strategic plan, broadening innovation and remaining a core partner to the scripted team.

He joined Banijay as group financial controller in 2011 before being advanced to deputy chief finance officer. Balmary was also COO of Banijay Studios International and Banijay Studios France.

Previously he held posts in restructuring at Ernst & Young and Deloitte.

“In light of our recent and rapid expansion, this key supporting role has never been more vital,” said Bassetti. “With Frederic I have a close partner who can support in further developing our organisation and activities around the world.”

Balmary said: “I am proud to be expanding my remit to further build on the group’s long-term success trajectory.”
