Banijay Mexico & US to follow 2026 World Cup trail with ‘sportainment’ travel series

L-R: Jaime Camil, Marcelo Tinelli and Jorge Enrique Abello

Banijay Mexico & US Hispanic is developing a travel docuseries following a trio of well-known Latin personalities as they travel around various cities set to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Tres Hinchapelotas, which loosely translates to “three pains in the ass,” will follow Jaime Camil (Mexico), Marcelo Tinelli (Argentina) and Jorge Enrique Abello (Colombia) as they explore each city’s fans, food, nightlife and culture, using various modes of transport including motorbikes, RVs, trains and boat to make it to the next destination.

Banijay Mexico & US Hispanic, which is part of Banijay Americas, described the project as a “fresh take on modern sportainment, where travel meets passion and friendship drives the journey.”

Camil (Jane the Virgin) is an actor, producer and the co-owner of Los Angeles FC, while Enrique Abello (Yo Soy Betty) is an actor, writer and producer and Tinelli (Videomatch, Bailando por un Sueño) is a TV host and producer.

Tres Hinchapelotas is currently in development, with Banijay Mexico & US Hispanic seeking international partnerships and “distribution discussions.”

“Tres Hinchapelotas follows three passionate futbol fans on an unforgettable journey across North America,” said Marie Leguizamo, managing director of Banijay Mexico & US Hispanic.

“Packing entertainment, viewers will experience real stories, shared adventures, and authentic emotions as the trio explores communities, embraces local traditions, and feels the energy of futbol stadiums ahead of next year’s much-anticipated World Cup.”
