Banijay Italia’s Starstruck adaptation strikes a chord with WBD’s Italian cablenet Nove

Starstruck launched in the UK on ITV and ITVX

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD)-owned general entertainment channel Nove in Italy has commissioned a local version of Banijay Entertainment’s music format Starstruck.

It marks the seventh international version of the format, which was originally created by Banijay UK’s Remarkable Entertainment.

Banijay Italia will produce the show for the Italian cable network. It sees trios of ordinary people with extraordinary talent take to the stage, teaming up to transform into some of the world’s most significant music icons.

Singing live, they battle against rival groups, with only one spot up for grabs in the grand finale. The winning trio then compete with each other for a shot at securing the cash prize.

Since its launch in the UK on ITV and ITVX, Starstruck been adapted in Chile, Bulgaria, Belgium, Denmark and, most recently, Portugal.

Francesco Lauber, chief creative officer of Banijay Italia, said: “Italian audiences love high-energy competitions, and with its mix of incredible performances and emotional moments, this adaptation is set to become must-watch TV.”
