Banijay Germany grows teams at prodcos Endemol Shine Germany, Good Times

Banijay Germany is expanding the management teams at its local production labels Endemol Shine Germany and Good Times, making several hires and promotions.

Tom Kühn

Endemol Shine Germany has appointed former ITV Studios Germany exec Panagiota Vafea as its executive director and Tom Kühn as executive producer. Meanwhile, Cologne-based Good Times, which Banijay acquired in 2019, has hired Shona Fraser as joint MD and elevated Cornelia Landgraf to deputy managing director.

Vafea was formerly an executive producer at ITV Studios Germany, overseeing shows such as Dancing on Ice and German formats Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus! and Grill den Henssler. In the new role she will be responsible for formats including Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, Lego Masters and Beauty & the Geek.

Kühn joins Endemol Shine Germany after 18 years at Leonine Studios-backed i&u TV production, where he produced ARD’s Saturday evening show Klein gegen Groß.

Shona Fraser

Meanwhile, at Good Times, Fraser will jointly hold the MD position alongside Sylvia Fahrenkrog-Petersen. Fraser was previously the head of entertainment at RTLZwei, where she oversaw formats such as Battle of the Reality Stars, Love Island and Naked Attraction.

Landgraf, who served as creative director before her promotion, has been with the label for 15 years. In the new role she will work closely with the company’s joint MDs.

Fabian Tobias, MD of Endemol Shine Germany, said Vafea is a “valuable asset to our management board,” adding that the expanded team is “ideally positioned in the market to further drive success for our existing and upcoming projects.”

Sylvia Fahrenkrog-Petersen, founder and MD of Good Times, added: “Shona is one of the most experienced television creators in the industry and is the perfect person to join Good Times as we expand our portfolio in the areas of reality and entertainment.”

Endemol Shine Germany was formed in May 2015 from the merger of Endemol Deutschland and Shine Germany.
