Banijay brings back Name That Tune

Fox’s revived version of Name That Tune is hosted by Jane Krakowski

European production and distribution giant Banijay has added classic format Name That Tune to its sales catalogue following the show’s relaunch on US broadcast network Fox in January.

Distribution arm Banijay Rights will shop Name That Tune outside the US, Canada, Australia, Russia and Poland, where the format has already been commissioned.

Italian channel TV8 has already commissioned a local version from Banijay Italia to debut this spring.

Beginning life as an NBC Radio programme in the 1950s, Name That Tune sees two contestants battle it out to demonstrate who has the most musical knowledge. To date, it has been adapted in 26 markets worldwide.

Carlotta Rossi Spencer, head of format acquisitions for Banijay, said: “Name That Tune has already proven popular with an international audience and we have no doubt we can extend its reach into new territories given its notoriety in the market as a highly entertaining, relevant family show.”
